Description

Whether for baby chicks or full size chickens, the Thermo-Peep Heated Pad is a wonderful source of warmth for chickens of all sizes. It can be used to help chicks stay warm during their early development or with any chickens during the cold months of winter.

We designed the Thermo-Peep with internal thermostats to ensure it maintains a perfect temperature. This prevents chicks from getting chilled and avoids pasting.

At a mere 25 watts, the Thermo-Peep consumes very little power and is one of the most energy-efficient heat sources available.

Use this product on the floor or mount it to the wall using the four corner holes we provided. For added safety, the power cord features 18” of steel capping.

Important Safeguards:

  • Consult your veterinarian before use with young puppies/kittens, convalescent pets, during surgery/surgery recovery, or any animal that cannot voluntarily remove themselves from the heated pad. K&H recommends using ONLY the Deluxe Lectro-Kennel Heated Pad for these animals as this pad has an adjustable thermostat.
  • Do not place pad in confined area where the pet does not have the ability to remove themselves from the pad. Always allow your pet enough space to be able choose if they want to rest on the pad or off the pad.

Product Q&A

How do I attach this to a wall?

Simply drill 4 small holes, one in each corner of the Thermo-Peep Heated Pad, making sure to drill only in the lip of the pad. Then screw it to the wall.

Can I use wood shavings or sawdust with this product?

Sawdust and wood shavings are very combustible and we would never advise using them in conjunction with any type of electrical or heated products. Please keep the pad separate from areas that contain combustible materials.

Can we set a chicken waterer on the Thermo-Peep heated pad?

The Thermo-Peep Heated Pad is not designed to prevent a waterer from freezing. We recommend using the heated version of our Poultry Waterer instead.

What temperature will an outdoor heated pad reach?

K&H outdoor pads are designed to warm to an animal's normal body temperature of when he/she lies on the pad. When an animal is not on the pad, the heat will dissipate into the air and the surface temperature will vary according to the ambient air temperature.

Are your heated pads pressure sensitive?

Our heated pads are NOT pressure sensitive. All K&H heated pads feature dual thermostats and are designed to warm to an animal's normal body temperature when he/she lies on the pad. This is a function of the insulation provided by the animal's body, not the weight of the animal.

K&H pads will emit heat anytime they are plugged in so an animal can sense that heat and be drawn to the pad for warmth and comfort. When your an animal is not on the pad, the heat will dissipate into the air and the surface temperature will vary according to the ambient air temperature.

How long is the cord?

The cord is 5.5 feet long. The first 18 inches of the cord are steel-capped for added protection.

Can I use an extension cord with this product?

MET requires that all manufacturers put the extension cord statement “Do not use with extension cord” on every item that is MET listed by UL 499 standards. This is because they cannot test every extension cord on the market in conjunction with our products for safety. Also, MET suggests that an extension cord is not recommended as a permanent fixture and should only be a temporary solution when using any electrical product.

For more information on MET safety testing, please visit their website at www.metlabs.com.

How long can a heated pad be plugged in?

MET Safety Laboratories suggests unplugging the pad if you leave your home on an extended vacation, as they do with any electrical appliance. Otherwise, it is designed for 24/7 operation and you can leave it plugged in all day. This item has been certified by MET labs to adhere to strict electrical safety standards. For more information, please visit www.metlabs.com.

Is there an off/on switch?

There is not an off/on switch. The pad is always on when plugged in.

Is placing an additional blanket or towel on top of the heated pad recommended?

You never want to place anything on top of a K&H outdoor heated pad other than the cover provided. This cover allows the warmth to go through whereas a blanket or any other cover will trap the heat inside the pad, possibly causing a malfunction.

Are K&H outdoor heated pads waterproof?

Our outdoor heated pads are water-resistant. We understand that animals collect snow and water from being outdoors. Our products are designed to be used safely with animals, even when the animal is water-soaked.

Please make sure to place the pad in a relatively dry area with shelter. The pad should not be placed where there is a potential for standing water from heavy rain and the product should not be immersed in water.

Can I place an outdoor heated pad on the ceiling of a shelter in order to offer heat from above?

Our heated pads require direct contact with an animal's body and do not provide radiant heat. For these reasons, we only recommend placing a heated pad on the floor or sidewall where the animal’s body will come in direct contact with the product.
